Join us for our next Dutch Oven activity at the SBF & DOR June 8, Sat. dinner hour at the Dutch Oven potluck. Share recipes with fellow cooks and sample each others victuals. Members get discounted weekend passes at the gate or ahead of time at Kennewick Ranch & Home or on-line at our website. Folks with something cooked in a Dutch Oven and participating bands are invited to the potluck.

Thank you all for participating in the Spring DOG (Dutch oven Gathering) & Jam on March 30^th. I believe we helped Sacajawea Park put out the welcome mat for opening day!
About seven cooks participated, the members and jammers rounded out the meal with yummy side-dishes. It seems there was an unwritten memo that it was a Pork showcase day. We had two versions of pork tenderloin, pork roast with savory vegetables, pulled BBQ pork sandwiches and Ham. New member Fred cooked a southwestern chicken dish, and Marsha cooked a vintage ale bread recipe. Melissa made wonderful Mac& cheese. We were pleasantly surprised to have Doug return to the team of cooks.
All in all it was a grand day, and thank you all for attending. Wonderful food, music, friends, kids and dogs, exactly as it was meant to be! Now who’s on deck for hosting the next DOG?

New policy camp area wristbands required

To improve security, the camp area as well as the concert area will be “wristbands required”. You must have a valid ticket for that day to be in either area.

Foghorn Stringband playing at Emerald of Siam

Foghorn Stringband will be playing at our festival in June, but also at Emerald of Siam, 1314 Jadwin Ave, Richland, on May 22. The music starts at 9pm, with a $5 cover. 21 and older only. Get your Old-Time fix with this rock’n band. See you there.

Bluegrass jam moved to new location in May

The Bluegrass jam will not be at Pasco First Christian Church on May 2. The new loacation will be at Artmil Graphic and Web Design Studio, 415 N. Quay. N. Quay is off of Dechutes, in between Columbia Center Blvd and Kellog in Kennewick. Artmil studio is about half way down the street in the large building on the left. Call 492-1555 if you have questions. This will be the last regularly scheduled Bluegrass jam until September, as we will be busy organizing Sacajawea Bluegrass Festival and then attending other Bluegrass festivals

We are developing a “members only” area on the website. Our intention is to be able to let members see our membership list, and also to be able to have an easier way to let members know about club activities that are coming up.

Bluegrass jamming is sure fun!

Our weekly acoustic jam and monthly Bluegrass jam are well attended and super successful. Jamming the “bluegrass way”, with instrumentalists getting solo “breaks”, and all of the harmony singing really is fun. We heard several really positive comments about the February “first Thursday” Bluegrass jam. Some of felt like we were at a Wintergrass jam it was so good. If you are an aspiring bluegrass musician, please come on out. You can always play in the background until you gain more confidence.

Wishing you all the best for 2013! Each year flies by, gaining momentum as it rolls down the hill, and the MCTAMA year was no exception. From the music workshop last spring, Sacajawea Bluegrass Festival & Dutch Oven Rendezvous, cookouts, Jams and Sacajawea Heritage Days we have had a great time all around. We were blessed to be able to host 2 national bands, The James King band, and Ron Spears and Friends during our fall and spring concerts.

MCTAMA elections have passed and I want to thank those who took the time to run for the board. Sharon Stewart, Joe Gunter, Liz Sapp, Jack Hayes and Dennis Irby have decided to move on and open the door for a few of you to step in and serve. We appreciate their time, thoughtfulness and help in all that they brought to the board. We hope to see them volunteering and possibly joining the board again. We welcome our new secretary Karen Sowers and new board member Brent Vandevender. The 2013 board will consist of Nancy Burgess-president, Jim Sapp-V.P, Jeanne Newton-treasurer, Karen Sowers-secretary, Reade Obern-MBA rep, Dennis Miller, Marie Parks, and Brent Vandevender.

I would like to thank our volunteers who make all of our events happen. A wealth of appreciation goes out to our sponsors the financial or in-kind back bone of our events. Chiefs RV, Artmil Design, the Top family, the Sapp family, Clover Island Inn, Randy and Janet Schuler Washington State Parks, RDO Equipment, Jim and Jan Delfel, Vern and Sharon Crow, and The Legends of Country with Ed Dailey. Please take the time to visit their business or give them a big howdy and thank-you when you see them.

I would like to express deep sympathy to Marie Parks and family as recently Clarence passed on. He was a former board member with unique qualities and southern charm. Clarence will be remembered and greatly missed by all.
